Quarantine and Anxiety - When will things be back to normal again?

Hello everyone,

I hope that when you read this post, you are healthy and keeping safe. Remember to wash your hands and not touch your face when you leave the house. Just because restrictions are easing up, it does not mean the pandemic is over! It only means that there is place for you in the ICU.

Throughout this whole quarantine, the same question is on everyone's lips: "When will things be back to normal again?" The answer is twofold: 1) we don't know when and 2) our old "normal" may not come back for a while.

It seems daunting to look at those pictures of people in restaurants sitting far apart from one another. Our gym has a tentative plan on how to maintain social distancing between clients. Everywhere you go, people are wearing masks and gloves. It's like Stephen King is directing our new way of living - I think this sort of scenario is something he would write.

What will our new "normal" look like? Will this social distancing and wearing of masks be here to stay until a vaccine is created? What if a vaccine is never created? What will happen then? These seem to be the questions that keep running into everyone's mind. They are the cause of much anxiety and stress among many of us, if not all.

What we do know is that this pandemic is not over, not by a long shot. As restrictions start to ease up, cases are still rising. In areas where they were doing so well, they had to go on lockdown again because someone was careless and all of sudden, cases started to rise again. We also know that this may get worse next winter because that is when flu season is more dangerous and there will be more cases and it might mean another lockdown...

Until then, we need to face the reality that things will not be normal for a long time. We will need to be vigilant and keep following our local government restrictions. I know...I know... I miss going to Target... I miss being able to just go the gym. I miss going to Starbucks and enjoy a warm Latte... I miss just being out and about... and I know that everyone misses it.

As happy as I am that things are relaxing a bit, I am worried that there will be idiots that will be reckless and just go around and get others infected. For example: in my hometown, back in Canada, elementary schools have reopened.  A student, whose parents were awaiting results from a Covid test, went to school. Guess what? his parents are infected and they had to shut down the whole school and now, all these people need to get tested... and these idiots will be the cause of future shutdowns.

People, be smart!!! If you have any signs of sickness, DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE! If you are waiting for your test results, DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE!! Don't be a COVIDIOT!!!

Normal?? sorry, but things will not be normal for another, possibly, two years. We just need to embrace it, as best we can, and be careful.

How are you doing? How are you coping? Please share and let's build our community.
