Photo session with our kids - it was a disaster and I loved it!
Hello everyone,
I hope this post finds you safe and healthy. Remember to wash your hands, not touch your face, wear your mask and keep your distance. Let's stop the spread of Covid-19 but let's never stop spreading kindness!
This morning, we had a photo session with our three kids - two, one and three months. It was done outside in our backyard and the weather was perfect. The kids looked cute, we looked less tired and my hair even decided not to frizz today - a win all around! I was feeling confident that things would be good.
We start taking pictures and then...it happened. Our daughter was more interested with the sticks, rocks and any other thing she could find in the backyard. Our middle son decided that he was not going to smile and wanted nothing to do with taking picture. He wanted to just play with a stick...
What was I doing? Knowing me, you would think that I was freaking out and getting frustrated over this whole situation. You would think that I was just being so anxious about it all and getting aggravated... Instead, I was perfectly calm. Yes, I was because there was nothing that I could do because kids are kids...and that is what they were doing - they were acting like kids do.
In the end, the pictures will depict what our life is - beautiful chaos. Yes, that is what life with three kids looks like - a little crazy and lots of unexpected things. That is okay with me because it means that my kids are healthy, happy and just want to know more about this wonderful world they live in - minus the pandemic!
When you don't have kids, you can control a little more things. When you have them - don't try to control anything - just let things happen and go with the flow. By all means, I am not implying that they should not be disciplined... I only mean that if you think that their clothes will stay clean when you go out on a walk - yeah, that is NOT going to happen!!! Enjoy your time with your kids because they will quickly become teenagers and then - you are no longer cool or funny.
You know what I enjoy the most? when I act goofy and the kids laugh. I love their giggles because I know they are not laughing at me but at how freaking funny I am!!! This won't last long - so better enjoy it while it lasts.
How do you handle social situations where you wish the kids were perfectly still - but the reality is that they want to touch and lick everything? Do you stress? Does it make you happy to see them running all over the place? Let's share our experiences and let's build our community.
Until my next post, keep safe and healthy.
